My name is Al Neppl, and I am in my fourth year as the principal at Northeast Elementary School. I moved to Ankeny in the summer of 2007 to become the assistant principal at both Northeast Elementary School and Crocker Elementary School.
            I moved to Ankeny from Denison, IA where I was the assistant principal at Denison Elementary School for three years. Prior to this, I was the elementary art teacher for ten years at Denison Elementary School. During this time I was the high school girls track coach and boys and girls cross country coach at Denison High School. I also taught elementary art and computers in Cherokee, IA for three years.

I graduated from Iowa State University in 1991 with a BA in Art Education and then in 2000 I graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with an MA in Technology Based Learning. I attended Buena Vista University to earn my school administrator certification, and in May 2009 I completed my Specialist Degree program at Drake University.

            Our school motto for this year is "Northeast Elementary - A Family of Learners". I truly believe that everyone at Northeast is continually learning, not just our students, but maybe even more importantly our entire staff. What we know about effective teaching and learning can and must change to meet the diverse needs of the students who come through the doors of Northeast.
